Supple Strength

I've been on a (forever) quest to be able to do the splits...we all know that! I haven't got there yet due to commitment issues and injuries here and there but I won't let that stop me!

Then I did a stint in retail not too long ago and my flexibility diminished like there was no tomorrow!

...But, remember how I'm one of the Faces of YMCAfit this year?! If not, read {here}... one of my prizes was a CPD voucher worth £125. I decided to use it to attend the Supple Strength course on 31st August.

The course blended elements of yoga, Pilates and body conditioning and gave me the tools to build a challenging holistic workout. I got to explore exercises geared towards building strength and flexibility through a focus on posture, core stability and body alignment.


Getting my stretch on...

During the day we got to take part in a sample class and did the exercises soooo many times to get to know them, teach them and understand them. It was just what I needed! Although I didn't get sweaty, I certainly could feel it the next day! 

I think a class like this could seriously benefit everyone...from the inactive to active, young to old, crossfitters or runners. It's like a MOT for your body. A chance to forget everything else and focus on your body...listen to your body and treat it with the respect that it deserves. 

I'm hoping to gather together some willing volunteers soon to have a little practice on and to get some feedback about the session and my teaching. If you're interested (and in London of course) get in touch and I'll let you know when I have organised a time and place. 

If you're not in London, I'm sure I will be sharing an exercise or two right here that you can incorporate into what you already do!
