Gearing Up For Race Day: WholeFoods Women's Only Run

With 10 days to go until we're (like what I did there?!) heading out to run 10km at the WholeFoods Women's Only run, it's time to get prepared! I've said it before, and I will say it again...

It might only be a 10km run for me but some are running 15km's which is heading towards the half marathon distance.

next on my hit list...

So I put together a little guide on Race Day EssentElle's :

lets start with...

It's important that you choose items which you have run in before so you can guarantee yourself comfort. That way, all you have to focus on is your running. Choose clothing made from technical fabrics which wick sweat away from your body to keep you dry and cool.

I doubt very much the sun will be beating down on us in London - but never say never - as last year on October 30th it was actually 30 degrees, if you remember?! If that happens, then a hat and sunscreen is a must. More likely, it may rain, so a rain jacket made specifically for being active / running is an essential! Rain is yet another reason why a spare top should be with you on event day!

Last but not least...

not forgetting...

When that RUNger hits...you don't want to have to resort to making bad choices in food. Fuel your body the right way with the right snacks. Alternatives include a bagel / oatcakes with peanut butter, a banana or even some nuts with dried fruits. Same rules apply here as with clothes...don't try anything new especially on race day. Finally, hydration! Post race, I'm all for a chilled bottle of Vita Coco Coconut Water...check - we'll get one when crossing the finish line! During - love a bit of nuun!

Wanna join me at the Whole Foods Women's Only Run?! Just visit their event page at http://humanrace.co.uk/events/womenonly/womenonly-run ...entries close at 9pm Monday October 14th (or earlier if full!). You even have the option to sign up for a 5km, 10km, or 15km...and can run with a buggy!

Hope to see some of you at the race...oooo and for a spot of brunch after?!

Elle :) x

p.s. If you fancy trying out some nuun you can a. read more here and b. get yourself a cheeky discount using the code 'keepitsimpelle' ...click on the badge in the sidebar to the right and it'll take you straight to the UK store :)
