Somewhere on my running journey, I stopped listening to music. I do love music, but I found it was affecting my pace more than I wanted it to. When running with groups I tend to talk the whole time, and for long runs discovered podcasts.
In the spirit of getting back into the swing of running again, I've got 3 podcast series that I'm loving / loved to shared with you!
My Dad Wrote A Porno (Funny, Addictive)
If there was a top spot, this one would have it. It basically delivers what it says on the tin. I don't want to spoil it, but it's hilarious. Leave your prudeness at the door when you exit for your run and be thankful this isn't your dad! With short 30 minutes episodes it's perfect for your tempo runs (or like me, for your commute, spending the whole time hoping that no-one can hear whats being said in your headphones!)
Serial - Series 2 (True Story, Political)
Although, if you haven't listed to series 1, I'd recommend you start there. In the first series, they re-earthed the story of Adnan who was jailed for killing his teenage ex girlfriend way, way back. I think we all then assumed the second series would come back to continue his story but instead we're learning all about an American Soldier who ran away and got caught by the Taliban. I'm still getting into this one and I know that when I do, I'll be enthralled no doubt!
How To Be A Girl (Emotional, True Story)
I have no idea how I found this one but I love it. It's from the Mother of a child who was born a boy, but from a very young age identifies himself as a girl. The Mother accepts the child's feelings so now identifies as the mother of a "happy, confident little transgender girl" and the journey it took to get to this point.
I'm pretty sure I will make a podcast one day, I just need to work out what it'll be about and how to do it! But for the time being, this is what I'll be up to when I have my headphones in!
Do you have any podcasts that you recommend for running or commuting?!
