A couple weeks ago, I was nominated by Uli, from Found Some Paper to reveal 10 unusual things you don’t know about me (which you can see I slightly renamed!). As I’m typing this very sentence I have no idea what I will share but I’m certainly gonna give it a good go!
1. I barely ate vegetables until a few years a go
Growing up, the most adventurous I got with veg was a little sweetcorn! Oh and maybe some peas?! I’m still trying new veg to this day …all the time! Some of my recent tries have been mushrooms, aubergines, beetroot and cauliflower!
2. I’m dying to go on holiday and swim in a warm pool …now I know how to swim
You know how I just learnt to swim this year?! It’s made me look back on all the holidays I’ve been on and avoided the swimming pools and avoided the sea …because I had to! I feel like learning to swim has given a new sense of freedom and I’m eager to get out there and use it on holiday!
3. I’m about to launch a new business
I thought I’d use this one for a bit of accountability in all honesty! I have a long way to go till I’m fully up and running but am about to start test trading!
I’m looking into getting a desk for my home and a desktop computer (I feel more productive on them) in order to help me get focused and keep things moving forward! Keep your eyes peeled to hear more about what I am up to!
4. My lunch of choice used to be a bacon & avocado panini, cheese & onion crisps with diet coke (and maybe a snickers)
This is true. And sometimes I do revert back; just to a slightly healthier version (or at least as healthy as one can get!). Pret is one of my favourite places to lunch these days if I must have a sandwich and crisps.
Their Yoga Bunny sparkling drink is my ultimate favourite with no added nasties and just natural sugars. My chocolate of choice is from Hotel Chocolat; if I can’t take the full 100%, I’ll opt for 70% or more!
5. My mum feared for my life when I left for University as I never knew how to cook
She reminds me all the time about the first time she came to visit me at Uni and me cooking for her put her mind at ease! I mean, it was only spaghetti bolognese (my all time favourite meal) but at least it meant I could look after myself!
I enjoyed cooking so much (and eating) that University was a point where my weight increased a fair bit! I’m sure alcohol contributed to that too along with actually growing into a more womanly figure?!

6. In my younger years (at one point) I wanted to be a Journalist
I only remembered this the other day; and I guess blogging is now my way of fulfilling what was once a dream to write! I also used to write poems, some of which got published.
I was never good at writing stories though; the best ending I could ever think of was – “and then he / she woke up and it was all a dream!”. No marks for creativity there, eh?!
7. I also wanted to be a Barrister
This one makes huge sense to me as one of my core values is fairness. Being a Barrister would (hopefully) have been a way to work in alignment with that value which is very close to my heart.
I think the years and years of studying was what put me off but it’s never too late; I met a woman just this week who is retraining as a lawyer in the hope of becoming a judge!
8. My guilty pleasure is that I still watch ALL the soap operas on TV
Yup. I watch Hollyoaks, Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Sometimes I’m too busy to watch all the episodes but I catch up whenever I can!
I do spend most of my time thinking how ridiculous some of the story lines are but at the end of the day thats why I like to watch them; to have a little break away from reality!
9. I’m more of an early evening person
This has always been the case for me for as long as I can remember! When I was revising for my exams aged 16, I would get the most done from around 5pm onwards.
I try really hard now as an adult to be both to make the most of the time in my days and I’m always amazed at how much I can get done when I wake up early and get a good nights sleep!
10. I have no stand out favourite way to get my sweat on!
This one is like a double edged sword really; I’ve never committed to one activity alone but at the same time, I’ve enjoyed trying everything that’s been put in front of me once.
I enjoy the social side of running, the challenge of swimming, the endorphins from spinning, the burn from reformer pilates and the energy from HIIT training! Everything brings me a different feeling!
I feel like I wanna leave this one open as inspiration for anyone reading, to take part themselves! Feel free to leave me one or two things in the comments below; or alternatively if you’re a blogger write your own post and tag some others to join in the sharing!!

Love this post, Elle! Here's a couple of things about me:1) People know I'm a former international tenpin bowler, but they don't all know that I played in the World Cup in 2007 and was so unlucky to not make the quarter finals. 2) I can't whistle. Really.
hahaha! LOVE this Helen! …you really can't whistle?! I always wanted to know how to do the one with fingers thats really loud! hahaha! …and that is so awesome!! It's not too late to be in the World Cup again is it?! and does this mean you like, have your own bowling balls?!
