I’m a big advocate for ensuring that athletes put as much effort into their recovery as they do their training. So this was a fun review to do, to find out if CBD for recovery is something we should implement into our routines.
Firstly, let’s address the two elephants in the room here. One being, do you class yourself as an athlete and two being, the excess of CBD products that seemed to be touted every direction.
Well, for the first one…
“If you have a body, you are an athlete”
– Bill Bowerman
And I couldn’t agree more. No matter how, or how much you move your body, you can be classed as an athlete. The only competition you need, is yourself!
As for the wealth of CBD products out there, I’m with you. Seeing so many different brands personally makes it hard for me to ever make a decision to know who to trust or to try any of them.
So I figured I would share with you what I tried to bring you a trusted review.
What is CBD?
CBD is short for Cannabidiol which is a naturally-occurring compound found in hemp and cannabis, also known as a cannabinoid. It’s the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the plant and is thought to have a wealth of benefits.
There are no medical claims made about the benefits of CBD by Truth Naturals, but they believe that adding CBD to our daily routine promotes general well-being.
There are a few different forms that you can buy CBD supplements in – usually tincture, in capsules or in gummies.
Who Are Truth Naturals?
Truth Naturals are a company on a mission to “to innovate and create natural solutions for people in search of optimal health and wellbeing using transparency, scientific evidence, and high quality supplements that are fuelled by plants”. One of their Founders and Scientific Director is a medical practitioner with a Ph.D. in Nutrition Science.
If you decide to make a purchase from Truth Naturals you can get £10 off (new customers) with code ELLE10.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been trying out the Truth Naturals Recover blend, which contains CBD as well as highly bioavailable curcumin and their Recovery roll-on which feels amazing on sore muscles post-workout.
Truth Naturals CBD Recover Blend
I first tried the recover blend mixed into my cup of tea before bed. The cap has a pipette built in which allows you to measure the 2ml dosage containing 10mg of CBD. The blend can be added to any drink of choice. It gave my teas a mild “spicy” or “warming” flavour which was actually a nice addition to my tea.

Some other ways I’d try this is in yoghurt, in milk with cereal or porridge or in a smoothie. You could also add to a batch of no bake energy balls as a post workout snack.
Truth Naturals CBD For Recovery Roll-On
I’m already a massive fan of magnesium as a natural way to reduce DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) so I was keen to try this out. This recovery roll-on is supposed to penetrate straight through the skin and into your bloodstream, giving maximum effect with minimal amount of product.

The roll on is easy to apply, and quickly absorbed into my skin. The CBD is blended with eucalyptus so it has a cooling affect and feeling when applied.
The suggested use is to it roll directly onto achy or strained muscles and to massage in for quicker absorption. Each 1ml application on average contains 6mg of CBD.
I also used this recovery oil on my abdomen and lower back (as I do magnesium) during my period and it seemed to be a great ease for my cramps.
I’m waiting for my next period to come around so I can test it out again, but it’s great to have another natural product I can use to ease my symptoms.

I’m looking forward to experimenting more with CBD over time; check out the Truth Naturals site for a wealth of different blends! I’ve got my eye on the Rise – a Vitamin D3 mouth spray – and the Rest – a blend with MCT oil & L-tryptophan.
Have you incorporated any CBD into your supplement routine?!
