    Behind the scenes

    LET’S CONNECT ON INSTAGRAM

Once upon a time, I thought more was always better Once upon a time, I thought more was always better.

More workouts. More intensity. More control over what I ate 🫠

And here’s the thing: I genuinely LOVED exercise and I still do. I’m always up for a challenge, love learning new things and seeing what my body is capable of.

But for a long time, I worked in an environment where people wanted to walk into the gym and crawl out. Harder was better. More was better. And when that’s the world you’re surrounded by, it’s easy to believe that’s how fitness should be for everyone.

Thankfully, my world got a little bigger 🌍🙏🏾

Teaching online introduced me to people with different backgrounds, bodies, goals and circumstances. During the pandemic, movement wasn’t always about pushing harder. Sometimes it was about connection, getting through the day or simply feeling a bit more like ourselves.

And my own health challenges taught me something else: sometimes you HAVE to slow down if you want to keep doing the things you love.

None of this means I’ve stopped loving a sweaty HIIT class, a big cycling adventure or a ridiculous sporting challenge.

I’ve just stopped believing that more is always better.

Because where does it stop? 👀

Does there always have to be a next BIGGER thing?

I’ve come to realise the answer is pretty simple.

You get to choose.

And you get to change your mind.

So, these are a few hills I’ll happily die on as a reformed fitness professional. 😂

Which one are you standing on with me? Or is there another you’d add?
October. November. December. Let’s lock in with ou October. November. December. Let’s lock in with our swimming 🏊🏾‍♀️

I’ve gone from learning to swim again as an adult to finishing half a mile at Swim Serpentine. Mostly breaststroke, plenty of yapping, but we got there 😅

Next up: getting more comfortable with front crawl and keeping at those tumble turns. Something’s starting to click, and I want to see where another three months of practice takes me.

Weekly group lessons, going with my husband and having something booked in have helped me stick with it this time.

Anyone else working on their swimming? Tell me what you’re practising! …let’s do this together 👇🏾

Girl math says if it makes you feel better, it’s a Girl math says if it makes you feel better, it’s an investment, not an expense.

But essentially, YOU get to choose 🤷🏾‍♀️

Your goals. Your version of success. Your movement. Your reasons. Your level of commitment.

Your expensive bike if you want one. Your five-minute workout. Your marathon. Your lack of marathon.

Because there isn’t one right way to do fitness. There isn’t one thing we’re all supposed to be working towards.

Maybe you want to get stronger. Maybe you want to run a marathon. Maybe you want to be able to say yes to more adventures. Maybe you just want movement to make your life feel better.

For me, riding bikes makes me ridiculously happy. They take me places, introduce me to people and give me adventures I probably wouldn’t have had otherwise.

So yeah. HAPPY NEW BIKE DAY TO ME 😌🚲 I’m now riding the Liv Devote Advanced Pro (2026)

What’s something that adds to your life that you’ll happily invest in?

I’ve been a fitness professional for 20+ years, but I’m also here for trying new things, learning as I go and enjoying what all that training lets me do.

Sometimes I’m the expert. Sometimes I’ve made the mistake so you don’t have to. Sometimes we’re figuring it out together.

This weekend I got to ride around the New Forest with good company evidenced by them joining in for my Millenial dance break 🤣😂🤣🤪

Big love to @duathlongirluk for hosting the gravel weekend (check out her page for the 2027 dates 🙌🏾), and of course @draftingthroughlife and @lauraahodgeee for the miles and chats 🚴🏽‍♀️💨🥰

I was defo pushed out of my comfort zone but that’s what we’re here for, right?! …getting stronger so we can go and enjoy ourselves. More of this pls 🙏🏾

I genuinely thought tumble turns were one of those I genuinely thought tumble turns were one of those swimming skills that would just never be for me 🤪

BUT… something is actually starting to click 👀

They’re definitely not there yet, but every time I practice I’m getting a little less confused about what my body is supposed to be doing. And forget all the tips on instagram coming from people who can tumble turn in their sleep… respectfully, tips need to start with a roly poly / somersault AT MOST!!

Anyway, one of the best bits about being a beginner is watching something slowly go from feeling impossible to actually feeling within reach.

What’s next for you to master?! 🏊🏾‍♀️
