Behind the scenes

LET’S CONNECT ON INSTAGRAM

I spent years thinking fitness had to look a certa I spent years thinking fitness had to look a certain way.

More discipline. More intensity. Fewer off days.

Turns out, the version that actually sticks is quieter.

It’s training around real life.

It’s learning new skills as an adult.

It’s stopping before burnout instead of after it.

This page is me documenting what fitness looks like when perfection isn’t the goal — consistency is.

If you’re done trying to be “on it” all the time, you’re very welcome here 🤍

Suddenly it’s December… and you realise you haven’ Suddenly it’s December…
and you realise you haven’t been in the baby pool for a long time.

I restarted swimming lessons in summer 2024 as a nervous adult who wasn’t confident in the deep end. Progress came quicker than I expected — but confidence still took its time.

Now it’s December 2025 and I’m back in lane swimming, holding my own in the medium lane 🙌🏾🏊🏾‍♀️

Calm. Patient. Capable.
Still learning.

This is what progress actually looks like — not dramatic, just consistent.

Next goal: Swim Serpentine. Two miles.

If you’re rebuilding confidence in your body — in the water or out of it — you’ll feel at home here. Follow along 🥰

London Marathon. The end. And that was always the London Marathon.
The end.

And that was always the plan.

I trained well, ran the marathon, then I stopped. Not because I “fell off”… but because rest was the point.

Since then it’s been a mix of short runs, parkrun walks, one very satisfying “Strava said no” run, and doing exactly what felt right at the time.

Here’s your reminder:
You don’t stop being a runner because you’re not training for something.
You don’t lose your identity because you take a break.
And you don’t need to earn your way back.

Still a runner.
Still moving.
Still allowed to change the pace.

If this looks like your year too — you’re good. Trust me. 🫶🏽

I don’t have a “goal” for followers; I just wanna I don’t have a “goal” for followers; I just wanna connect with people who like being social on social media 🤪 y’all are who I come to when I’ve got questions 😅

Here’s what I’m into:
- cycling (road and gravel)
- running (although I’ve not run much since london marathon in April)
- I’m a personal trainer, indoor cycling instructor, run online classes and work freelance as a social media manager
- I learnt to swim in my thirties and am trying to get strong enough to complete swim serpentine in 2026
- I have my own blog which I’ve written for the past 13 years called ‘keep it simpElle’

That’s enough about me; we can get to know each other properly after the holidays 🥰 but my inbox is always open 🙃

After completing London Marathon in 2025, @swimserpentine is all that stands between me and that giant medal. Let’s not focus on the fact I can barely string 2 lengths together atm… we love a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious) goal right?!

If you’re new here, I’m Elle and I started learning to swim in my 30s. And started again just before I turned 40, last year. This is the longest I’ve swum consistently and the plan is to not give up before I get those last 2 medals.

In between the pool, I love cycling (indoors and out), write a blog and work as a fitness professional and freelance marketer / social media manager.

What’s your BHAG for 2026 then?!
