Once Halloween has officially passed, we’re fair game to start the ball rolling for Christmas, right?! For many, this Christmas will be a little closer to “normal” than last year with the opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
One of my favourite Christmas traditions used to be browsing the aisles of Boots checking out all their gifts, gifts sets and choosing pieces from there 3 for 2 Christmas presents range! This year, I got to do that from the comfort of my home when Boots invited me to create an ultimate Bag of Joy for someone special.
Now don’t tell him, but I chose my other half, Modestas who just this Summer completed his two year Masters course in Osteopathy so I definitely feel he deserves a little extra joy this year! Hopefully my story serves as a little inspiration for you this Christmas too…
Boots Christmas Shopping Tips
Before we start shopping, I’ve got a few tips to share with you to help you shop sensibly and sustainably this Christmas. Boots have got such a huge range of Christmas gifts, this will also help you find suitable ideas much quicker.
1. Stick to a list
Make a list of the people you need to shop for – parents, siblings, friends, favourite teacher even – and stick to it. This way, you’ll just buy what you need and not end up with a bunch of random gifts.
2. Go for quality
Buy the best quality you can afford, so ideally, the products / items will last longer and reduce the need for the recipient of your gift (or yourself) to buy again anytime soon.
3. Set yourself a budget
This one is important! Set yourself a gift buying budget and stick to that too.
Before I decided on who to shop for, I spent ages scrolling through all the gifts available on the Boots website and started by filtering Christmas Gifts For Her. When I decided to shop for Modestas, I also checked out the Christmas Gifts For Him filter.
There’s actually quite a lot of overlap in those two categories so I ended up working my way backwards, thinking of the types of items I would like to get and then searching for them using more of the filters.
Modestas’ Bag of Joy
Firstly, is it even Christmas if you don’t buy socks as a gift?!

This one, I did buy with myself in mind too, I’ll be honest. Over the Holidays and into the New Year, there are a lot of new shows and new seasons of shows I love, dropping on Netflix. I’m envisioning being snuggled up under the duvet with my phone being positioned perfectly using this tablet cushion.

Then, I know how much I love my ‘special’ mugs. The one’s that are mine, and supposed to be only mine, but we won’t go into that right now. I saw Boots had a selection of Alphabet mugs, so I got the ‘M’ for Modestas. It’s actually a lot smaller than I imagined but it’s gonna make a nice gift.
Capturing Christmas on Camera
So, with my £100 budget, this Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 camera was a bit of a splurge but I think it’s worth it. I’ve personally always loved pictures and I miss the days of using film and waiting for the developed images to be returned to you.

A polaroid camera is so much fun, especially for family gatherings. You can instantly capture moments and create mementos, or gifts even for everyone. I thought it’d be nice to capture some pictures over Christmas that can be kept for reminiscing in future years. You know, when we look back at “those crazy coco years!”.
Secret Santa Inspiration
I swear, every year that Modestas ends up needing to buy a Secret Santa gift, he somehow just goes to the supermarket on his way to work and picks something up from there. But, if you have a budget for your Secret Santa, and you haven’t left it till the last minute, Boots is also a great option for that. You can prob end up getting it ‘free’ through the 3 for 2 offer.
Have you started Christmas shopping yet? Who’s the easiest or hardest person to shop for?!
