Iced Blueberry Matcha Latte Recipe (à la Blank Street)

Iced Blueberry Matcha Latte Recipe (à la Blank Street)

I remember the exact date, time and place that I discovered the Blank Street Iced Blueberry Matcha! I’d just arrived in London, checked into my hotel ready to take on RideLondon 60 the following day and we decided to take a walk in the sunshine and grab a drink.

Amy recommended the Blueberry Matcha and I figured, why not! The rest is, well, history. However, I don’t go into London all that often so I figured I would figure out how to make an Iced Blueberry Matcha at home, Blank Street style.

I googled to see what info was available and am sharing what’s worked for me here. The first time I made my Blueberry Matcha, I made the blueberry syrup myself because I had a bunch of blueberries that needed to be used and I wasn’t too sure about spending circa £15 on the syrup.

I kept the syrup in my Amazon wish list and when it dropped in price I grabbed it. But when you think about it, you use 10ml per drink, so the bottle will last for 100 blueberry matcha lattes… so it’s good value for money whatever price you get it for.

Below is how I make my Blank Street inspired Iced Blueberry Matcha Lattes at home. I’ll also include the recipe for a homemade blueberry syrup, which will help to keep costs down a little if you don’t want to splash out on the syrup just yet.

Ingredients (Serves 1)

  • 1tsp Matcha powder
  • 60ml Hot water
  • 150ml Oat milk
  • 1tsp Vanilla syrup
  • 2tsp Blueberry syrup
  • Dash of Ube syrup

The internet has reliably informed me that these are the exact brands of ingredients/ products that Blank Street use in their stores. Here’s the full product and accessory list on my Amazon UK Storefront.

Homemade Blueberry Syrup Ingredients (1-2 servings)

  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/8 cup white sugar, maple syrup, honey or sugar of choice
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract

How To Make Your Iced Blueberry Matcha

  1. Add hot water to matcha powder and whisk well
  2. Add oat milk, vanilla syrup, bluberry syrup and dash (a couple of drops) of your ube syrup to a glass and stir well
  3. Add ice to your milk mixture
  4. Pour in your matcha and it should sit on top, all aesthetically
  5. Add your straw and take your pictures
  6. Stir to combine and drink

If you’re making your own blueberry syrup, just mix the blueberries, water, and sugar together using a whisk in a small saucepan over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Increase heat to medium and bring to a gentle boil, stirring often, until your syrup is thickened.

Add the lemon juice, then leave to cool. I then blended the blueberry syrup and strained it through a mesh bag to remove any remaining bits to make a smoother syrup / drink. You can store the leftovers in the fridge.

I played around with the recipe and ingredients until I thought it tasted just right. For example, I tried it with almond milk once, to save calories (blurgh) and that reduced the sweetness too much for my liking.

I’ve tested a tonne of oat milks and the one I tagged is my all time favourite but feel free to use whatever oat milk you have available to you.

I’ve also played around with a couple other recipes – an Ube Brûlée Iced Latte inspired by Pret A Manger, an Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte and an Iced Lychee Mint Matcha Latte – so gimme a shout if you’re keen for those recipes.
