Looking back over the years when I would laugh and think, “It’s been a long year” is hilarious in hindsight. That lead up to Christmas always seems not quite long enough to get organised fully.
Last Christmas, by the time we reached the holiday, I was exhausted. In previous years, the Christmas holidays would be my only official time off, when the gyms and studios reduce their timetables and then close for Christmas Day and the Bank Holidays.
But, last year, working completely for myself, I had to impose this much needed break in my schedule.
I don’t think I was alone either when it came to needing a break, or feeling like life just got a little too much so I figured I would have a think about ways that we could deal with it all and take the pressure off just a little bit.
Tackle The To Do List With Helpling
I’ve been keeping a list of things to do while I have some time off and to be honest can get a little overwhelming! Top of my list is to have a thorough clean of my flat as I’ve done the bare minimum since I’ve made myself busy teaching classes and working from home.
Last month, Helpling got in touch offering me to book a 3 hour cleaning – something I’ve never done before. I decided to go for it – who couldn’t do with a helping hand with housework!
Our cleaner – Yordanka – managed to get through the bathroom, the oven, windows and more during the time which took some weight off my shoulders, for sure.
Make Time To Move
You knew exercise had to come up at some point! But it doesn’t have to be the go hard or go home sweatfest that everyone shares on social media.
Get some fresh air and take a walk, dust off the bike, dig out the foam roller. find a yoga class or let me serve you up some inspiration for indoor workouts!
You can find my live fitness class timetable and book here, or catch up on-demand via my ko-fi shop. Classes are for all levels – everything from HIIT, core focus, kettlebells, lower body and recovery in the form of foam rolling.
Do The Things…
…you’ve never had or made the time to do. Like reading, trying new recipes, redecorating a room, fixing bits and bobs, clearing out your wardrobe.
I’ve got the biggest pile of unread books next to my bed and a wardrobe that could do with a good clear out. Most recently, I’ve enjoyed a Netflix binge or two (I can recommend Bridgerton and also Season 15 of NCIS is on Prime Video).
No better time than right here, right now for some “spring cleaning” and a fresh start, right?!
