If you know me (and / or have read my blog) then you’ll know I’m a huge fan of magnesium (and recovery in general). I’m always extolling the virtues of magnesium when it comes to sleep, recovery and to soothe sore muscles. According to DrSALTS+, magnesium is useful for staying healthy, improving your mood and relieving stress whilst also encouraging healthy skin tissue and aiding detoxification. So then, imagine if we combined all those therapeutic benefits with those of other minerals for that perfect post workout recovery routine…

Introducing DrSALTS+ Muscle Therapy
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of trying out the DrSALTS+ Muscle Therapy range which is ideal for those of us who enjoy being active. The range includes 100% Dead Sea Bath Salts, Dead Sea Bath & Shower Gel, Dead Sea Salt Scrub & Soak and the Dead Sea Foaming Scrub.
The first thing you’ll notice when you open them is the smell of eucalyptus essential oil which is widely used for muscular aches and pains. The Muscle Therapy range has a mixture of 21 different types of minerals which all play a part to help you maintain healthy skin in the process.
I’ve found that as well as eating well when training / exercising, getting enough sleep and taking all the useful supplements, a little self care can go a long way. Spending some time warming up, cooling down, stretching, using that foam roller in the corner of your bedroom and treating your body well all help you to maximise your recovery, recovery quicker and therefore get the most out of each training session or workout.

How Long Does It Take To Have A Bath?
I think I could count the amount of baths I’ve taken on my two hands, in the last few years. And it’s mostly been due to a lack of time. But I recently realised that it doesn’t take as long as I thought it did and it’s such a great feeling to completely relax for the 20 minutes spent in the tub. When you’ve got all the DrSALTS+ aromas it’s even more glorious.
After a cyclocross race, it’s possibly one of the best feelings in the world taking off all the layers keeping me warm and hopping into a tub of hot water. One of the minerals in the salts is potassium which energises the body and is a crucial mineral to replenish following intense exercise. Depending on how you’re feeling determines how much of the salts to use… a regular bath? Just chuck in two handfuls. A real tough session? Use half of the packet (500g) for a more concentrated bath.
Less Time, All The Benefits
Being soooo busy, the first products I tried from the range were the shower gel and scrub. The shower gel has an organic seaweed blend for deep cleansing in addition to the eucalyptus and minerals. I then used the scrub to exfoliate and polish my skin and to give me that invigorated feeling, y’know?! The scrub, along with the whole range, also contains Bromides which ease muscle stiffness and relax muscles.

Final Thoughts On Workout Recovery
I’ve loved testing out the DrSALTS+ range and to be honest, they’re products that I already loved (magnesium) boosted with lots of other ingredients… like the superfoods of the relaxation world. The products are also reasonably priced (check out the DrSALTS+ website here to shop direct). Despite baths not taking all that long, I like to reserve them for post race on Sundays and / or before bedtime; it’s great to have the option between a long soak in the bath or a quick shower and still get all the benefits packed in…
Ever tried the DrSALTS+ range? …What’s makes up your perfect post workout recovery routine?!
