Just like that, school is back in session! That long Summer break is over and it’s time to tackle the term. Time has gone so fast; I actually completed my MSc in Management & Business Innovation pretty much two years ago.
But I’m still savvy on where you can get the best student discounts (our resident Sports Therapist / Osteopath, Modestas has been studying for his MSc these past 2 years) and I’ve had this post in my drafts folder for years!
So if you’re currently a student, join me in celebrating by spending all the money we don’t have, on being entertained… These are my top entertainment picks for using your student discount:
WHERE TO USE YOUR STUDENT DISCOUNT // and stay entertained
Spotify: I live for Spotify peeps. I used the free version for a while until I found out you get 50% off prime membership as a student. Plus your first 3 months are free if you’re new to the service. There has been nothing on there I can’t find over the past couple of years.
My absolute favourite thing is Spotify is the ‘Discover Weekly’ playlist which updates every Monday morning. It’s a unique to you playlist of suggested songs based on what you’ve been listening to.
Apple Music: If you’re a hardcore Apple fan and would rather use their dedicated streaming service instead, you can also make the most of their 50% student discount for up to 48 months. You’ll also get access to Apple TV+ for a limited time so you can binge-watch all of their Apple Originals while you probably should be studying.
Readable: The one-stop-shop containing thousands of audiobooks and podcasts. For all of those early morning bus rides into uni, late-night walks back from the library or long train journeys home for the weekend, Readable is an absolute godsend for students. Get 50% off your first three months with Totum’s student discount.
Amazon Prime: Amazon is my go-to place to shop since I got Prime at 50% off as a student and the first 6 months for free. It was only a whole year later that I even realised how good Prime TV was and tbh I still don’t use it as much I could due to not having much time. But the next day delivery is sometimes a lifesaver and they sell everything. EVERYTHING.
Buyagift: Go via Student Beans to get this student offer (23% the last time I checked*). Buyagift does some pretty decent deals and sales anyway which might work out better than the student discount. They sell all sorts of packages and adventures like spa days and racing driving experiences to name but a few.
A while back I won two tickets to dinner at the Hotel Chocolat Restaurant – Rabot 45 – along with tickets for Up At The Shard. The packages can also make awesome gifts for family and friends so that’s worth remembering!
Ticketmaster: Love live music? With Student Beans, you can score 45% off tickets on Ticketmaster. Choose from a massive assortment of live concerts, from huge festivals to intimate gigs, as well as sporting events, comedy shows, theatre and more.

Love Theatre: Talking of theatre, Student Beans also offer students 40% off theatre tickets on Love Theatre. From Wicked to Book of Mormon, Lion King to Phantom of the Opera, London-based students shouldn’t miss out on this fantastic student discount.
YouTube Premium: If you’re a little bit addicted to watching YouTube videos (no judgement here), YouTube Premium might be for you. You can watch YouTube without any ads, download videos to watch offline later and access to YouTube Music.
You can give Premium a chance with their 2 months free trial exclusively for students. And if you’re hooked, you can continue on the student plan for £6.99 a month instead of the regular £11.99.
All three of these are services I used before becoming a student again and I’ve continued to used since I completed my studies so this post doesn’t exclude you if you’re not a student at all!
Fellow students, any other student discounts on entertainment that I’ve missed or need to know about?!
