A few months ago, I shared with you my discovery of the link between me stopping the contraceptive pill and the worst outbreak of cystic acne I’ve ever had in my life. Since then, I’ve been working on looking after my skin from the inside out to help me regain my confidence without makeup, and that’s where USANA came in…
At the end of January, I spent some time thinking about my nutritional goals and what results I would want from a collaboration with USANA. You’re probably like me, and at this point have never heard of USANA but I think they might actually be one of those well kept secrets that we’re the last to find out about.
Get To Know USANA…
USANA are a nutritional company that manufacture their products in their own facilities and use only the highest grade of ingredients. They’re used worldwide by athletes who aren’t paid to shout about them and that was one of the first things that piqued my interest about the brand. If athletes are choosing to looking after themselves, then why shouldn’t we? You can find out more about that on their European website.
My Personal Health Goals…
We all know that a balanced diet is essential to get all the vitamins, minerals, trace elements and antioxidants the body needs to stay healthy but personally, I think it’s sometimes easier said than done.
The results of my blood test just before I started my USANA supplementation routine showed my iron levels were borderline low, my levels of vitamin D were low and I had more than enough vitamin B to keep me going for two full years…
Did you know that in the UK, only 29% of adults aged 25 to 49 and 38% of adults aged 50 – 64 meet the “five a day” recommended portions of fruit and vegetables?
My goals for my month of trialling the USANA products were simple:
- make progress towards having clearer skin
- balance out my energy levels
I had a Skype call scheduled in with a Nutritionist to go over all the information I’d provided in a very lengthy questionnaire, along with chatting over my goals in order for her to work out what supplements would be best for me to reach my goals of healthier, clearer skin and increased energy levels. From this, I was given my own supplementation routine designed to help achieve the aims of my programme in the swiftest manner possible.
My USANA Supplement Routine
First up, I was advised to take 1 sachet of the Healthpak in the morning with breakfast and one in the evening with dinner. The Healthpak contained 5 different tablets; CellSentials- consisting of Core Minerals and Vita-Antioxidant, MagneCal and CellSentials Booster.
I then had to take 2 capsules of the BiOmega with breakfast and the Probiotic sachet was one every other day for the first week, and then one per day for the rest of the month.

If you got confused reading all that then maybe spare a thought for me! …I was also advised by the Nutritionist to eat more veg and to do a little breakfast swap from Weetabix to porridge to Rude Health Granola. A few hot crossed buns may have sneaked their way in too…
This couldn’t really have come at a better time either as I started a course of antibiotics for my skin in mid January and if you’ve ever taken a long course of antibiotics you will know that they unbalance everything and wreak havoc with your entire body from the inside out… So I was kinda hoping that the USANA supplement routine would help me hit my goals and keep me well during the time…
Listening to the Nutritionist telling me all about the supplements and reading all the info is quite a lot to take it… it’s all very scientific, so really, the proof is in the pudding as they say…
I’ll be sharing how my month with USANA went shortly on the blog… but in the meantime if you have any questions to ask, or you own experience to share then please leave them in the comments section below…
Add tell me, had you heard of USANA before?!
