Thinking about Visions and Goals

I know it’s the New Year but that isn’t the reason I’m talking to you about Vision and Goals.

your vision:

  • provides focus
  • helps you discover your personal path

your goals:

  • inspire you to do the work
  • excite and even scare you
  • are specific, measurable and written in the present tense

I wrote my first ever Vision a few years ago on a one day workshop and it really was a turning point in my life. As stated above, it gave my life focus and helped me to discover the reason I wanted to be on this earth!

This was my first ever Vision:

To be a successful leader and inspirational role model by being true to myself, passionate, innovative and honest. so that I have an enriched, fulfilled and happy life in which I continue to learn and develop.

In all honesty, that hasn’t changed one bit. This IS my Vision. It’s the goals that I have in life which will allow me to live this Vision that need thinking about, planning and may from time to time change.

Right now, as part of my day job, I am wiring up my 10 year, 5 year and 1 year plan in the areas of Health, Personal and Career.

I have begun to map out what a day in the life of Elle would look like 10 years from now. It’s not easy.

One of the first steps I took was to answer these seven questions posed by Brian Tracey.

7 Questions : what is possible for your life?

This series of questions comes from Brian Tracy’s Psychology of Achievement.  The intention of these questions is to get into a mindset of possibility for your life and your vision & goals.

What are the 8 things you value most in life?

In 30 seconds or less, write down the 3 most important goals in your life right now.

What would you do if you won $ / £ / €1 million?

What would you do if you only had 6 months to live?

What have you always wanted to do but have been afraid to attempt?

In looking back at all the things you’ve done, what gives you your greatest feeling of importance?

What one great thing would you dare to dream if you knew you could not fail?

It’s a fantastic way to really get your mind on the right path…

Have a go yourself and see what you come up with…

Elle 🙂 x
