Earlier in 2020, I “sat down” or more accurately, met with Rachael from Girls Run The World, to record a Trailblazers episode of the podcast that I’m sharing with you today.

I don’t think 2020 has gone to plan for anyone, but one positive is, it’s given many of us the time and space needed to slow down and reflect on how far we’ve come and where we want to go next.
Despite this, I managed to have a pretty memorable Year in Sport (stats from Strava) with cycling being my top sport.
I’m not a fan of hills, but my rides in Lanzarote were pretty epic. They were the last long outdoor rides I did for 2020, back in February. But, throughout the Summer, when restrictions allowed, I got out on my bike locally through my Breeze rides… and even got to hang out with Melissa at the VeloPark, when she was down south for a holiday.
Anyway, let me get back to the podcast feature…
TrailBlazers: Elle Linton
Here’s what we covered in the episode…
I chatted about how I started cycling as a commuter when I lived in Central London, when a friend suggested a ride to Richmond Park just to ‘cycle round and round’, which at the time didn’t make much sense.
I documented some of those adventures on the blog… like when I tried track cycling for the first time.
“Despite the punctures en-route, she discovered a love of cycling for the community, being able to explore and a way of getting fit.”
Since then, I’ve gone on to become a Liv Cycling UK Ambassador (about to enter my third year) as well as setting up my own women’s cycling group to inspire others – and so I had a group of women to spin with right from my front door.

And if you didn’t know, I found a passion for cyclocross a year or two ago – which is the perfect winter cycling sport in my opinion. ‘The Tough Mudder of riding’, as I like to call it!
Listen to the episode to find out what makes me tick – and what I haven’t quite mastered when it comes to cycling.

Incase we’ve not met before, here’s a little excerpt written about the blog after I won the Vuelio Online Influence Award for Best Health & Fitness Influencer in November 2020:
Making fitness accessible for everyone is Elle at Keep it simpElle, who impressed the judges with her light-hearted tone and humour in a time where health can be serious business. Authenticity runs through every post from Elle, who even shares pictures of workouts from her living room (something we can all relate to this year, we’re sure).
